The Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi (IIIT Ranchi), established in 2016, is located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Initially mentored by NIT Jamshedpur, it operates on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, receiving funding from the Government of India, the Government of Jharkhand, and industry partners such as CIL, TCS, and Tata Tech. Currently, IIIT Ranchi operates from interim campuses in Namkum, Khelgaon, and Jupmi.
The institute is focused on providing quality education in the field of information technology and is recognised as an “Institute of National Importance” by an act of parliament. IIIT Ranchi offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in computer science, electronics, and communication engineering. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main conducts admissions to the undergraduate programs, and JOSAA and CSAB rounds fill the seats.
IIIT Ranchi is currently constructing its permanent campus on approximately 60 acres of land in Sanga, Kanke. Recent developments include President Murmu’s attendance at the second convocation in May 2023 and Prime Minister Modi laying the foundation stone for the new campus in November 2023.
